Coronavirus in Scotland: Almost 600 new cases across the country as First Minister addresses Parliament with lockdown announcement

The Scottish Government has released the latest coronavirus statistics.

There have been 597 new cases of coronavirus reported across Scotland in the last 24 hours.

There were 440 patients in hospital yesterday with confirmed Covid, and 42 people were in intensive care.

Seven more patients have died, bringing the death toll under the government metric to 7,517.

1,943,507 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 170,892 have received their second dose.

The First Minister will be addressing Parliament to give an update on lockdown.
