Glasgow Fort sees shopper numbers top 14.3m

Shopping and leisure park Glasgow Fort enjoyed a bumper year in 2015 with footfall increasing 6.5 per cent on the previous year's figures to 14.3 million.

A host of major brands joined the site last year including a flagship Marks & Spencer, Scotland’s only Kiko Milano beauty store, jeweller Pandora, fashion retailer FatFace and restaurants Wagamama and Tony Macaroni.

A multi-storey car park with 600 free spaces is expected to be complete by the summer and Glasgow Fort is also set to welcome four more restaurants this year.

Bosses said December was the strongest month with the number of people visiting the centre up 14 per cent on the year before. Black Friday was one of the busiest days of the year with some 75,000 visitors, while 23 December was the peak Christmas shopping day with 100,000 searching for last-minute gifts.
