40 staff make switch as historic Scottish law firm completes merger
“We have for some time been seeking the ideal fit through which to expand our presence in Glasgow” – Andrew Diamond
More than 40 staff have joined Scottish legal firm Lindsays after its merger with Dallas McMillan completed.
The previously announced deal sees Lindsays’ Glasgow city centre team grow from about 80 to more than 120 as new colleagues move across. It will take the partnership’s total headcount - including its other offices in Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth and Crieff - to in excess of 420 people.
The merger with Dallas McMillan - marking Lindsays’ fourth such deal in 11 years - was announced in June. It is the first to have been overseen by Andrew Diamond, who became the firm’s managing partner in October 2025.

He said: “Welcoming the team from Dallas McMillan to become part of Lindsays marks the beginning of another exciting chapter for our firm and its journey of steady, sustainable growth.
“We have for some time been seeking the ideal fit through which to expand our presence in Glasgow and are delighted to have secured that through this merger.
“Everyone is very much looking forward to working with new colleagues and new clients, who will benefit from the broader range of services that the enlarged firm offers.”
David McElroy, who was managing partner of Dallas McMillan and becomes a partner at Lindsays, said: “Working towards this date, it has been abundantly clear to us that becoming part of Lindsays is what’s best for the team from Dallas McMillan and, critically, also our clients.
“This is a merger which offers real opportunities for growth, both through the services we can provide to clients and for colleagues as part of a firm which puts people first and has a genuinely supportive culture.”
It is understood that no jobs have been lost under the tie-up.
Edinburgh-headquartered Lindsays first expanded into Glasgow in April 2008 through its merger with the former firm Kidstons, which had offices in the city centre and Bearsden. Its team have worked from their Queen Street offices since 2017.
The Dallas McMillan merger follows a period of wider growth in Lindsays’ Glasgow presence after the addition of a rural land and business team in the city this spring, along with senior hires in its private client and commercial property departments.
