Scottish accents pop up in all sorts of media, from blockbuster films and fantasy TV series - and video games are no exception.
Whether it’s first-person shooters (FPS) such as Valorant or narrative driven titles such as Still Wakes The Deep, characters from Scotland aren’t necessarily rare to find in games especially when you consider that the Call of Duty franchise features a Scottish protagonist.
Then there’s characters such as Korsica from Hi-Fi Rush or Horizon from Apex Legends who aren’t from Scotland - or even Earth - but who inexplicably have Scottish accents, with the opposite also being true: characters who are said to be from Scotland but who are without an accent.
Regardless of whether it’s a character with a tenuous connection to Scotland or one built entirely around stereotypes, here are 15 Scottish characters in video games.

9. Fergus Reid – Wolfenstein
Introduced to the Wolfenstein series in 2014’s The New Order, Fergus Reid is the right hand man of protagonist William "B.J." Blazkowicz. Fergus plays a fairly significant role early on in the game as players must decide whether he lives or dies to determine which timeline of events will unfold. With ties to Glasgow but his hometown more vaguely referenced, he is voiced (pretty decently) by English actor Gideon Emery. Fergus also appears in The Old Blood, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. | Bethesda

10. Korsica – Hi-Fi Rush
There are a few characters on this list that are more or less Scottish – either because of their accent or due to the location the character is said to be from – with Korsica from Hi-Fi Rush among this group. An animated rhythm combat game, it is set on a futuristic world which doesn’t have Scotland, but it certainly has characters with the accent. An intriguing character for a number of reasons, Korsica is voiced by American actor Sarah Elmaleh. | Bethesda Softworks

11. Alexander Graham Bell – Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
It is perhaps not surprising that historical adventure series Assassin's Creed features a number of Scottish characters, as many of the faces which pop up in the game are based on real people. In 2015 game Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, the Scottish inventor of the telephone Alexander Graham Bell appears in the game to assist twin Assassins Jacob and Evie Frye. He is voiced by Scottish actor Mark Rowley who has appeared on shows such as The Last Kingdom and River City. | Ubisoft

12. Cameron 'Caz' McLeary – Still Wakes The Deep
Set aboard an oil rig in the North Sea, narrative horror Still Wakes The Deep features a host of Scottish characters led by our faceless protagonist Cameron 'Caz' McLeary. Portrayed by Alec Newman – who is up for Performer In A Leading Role during the Bafta Games Awards 2025 – Caz is a working class ex-boxer from Glasgow, who leaves his family behind to work offshore in an attempt to escape his problems. | The Chinese Room / Secret Mode
