New York, London, and the farthest reaches of the galaxy are probably what first comes to mind when you think of Marvel filming locations. However, there are a few that are much closer to home than you might think. Scotland has a long history of being popular for filming locations, with big titles like Outlander, Game of Thrones, and more being filmed in our cities and rolling countryside.
You’ll most likely have been to many of these locations, perhaps without realising, especially if you’ve spent any time in Edinburgh. Here are ten Marvel filming locations spanning three films, all located in Scotland.
5. Royal Mile, Avengers: Infinity War
As Vision flies his opponent away, we get a brief glimpse of the Royal Mile above, thankfully deserted so that no Edinburgh residents got dragged into this superhero battle. Photo: Disney / Getty Images
6. St Giles Cathedral, Avengers: Infinity War
Vision and Corvus Glaive continue to fight it out on the roof of Giles Cathedral on the other side of the Mile. They smash each other into the wall, breaking apart stones that are almost a thousand years old. Vision does considerably more damage when he unleashes his laser, which blasts through the roof of the cathedral and even reaches the Mercat Cross in the square below, where Wanda and Proxima Midnight are still fighting. 7. Edinburgh Waverley, Avengers: Infinity War
Hearing Vision cry from above, Wanda breaks away from her fight by throwing Midnight into the City Chambers again. She takes off, grabbing Vision on her way, only to be shot down again by Midnight's alien-tech blade. Both Wanda and Vision crash into the roof of Waverley Station, landing near Platform 5. Midnight and Glaive approach, only to be fought off by the arrival of Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Sam Wilson. You can also spot the Quinn Jet parked on the ramp leading up to Waverley Bridge at the end of the scene. Photo: Disney / Getty
8. Edinburgh Castle, Avengers: Infinity War
To close off the Avengers' time in Edinburgh during Avengers: Infinity War, we get a parting, if blurry, shot of Edinburgh Castle through the closing door of the Quinn Jet as the team pulls away. Photo: Disney / Getty
