13. With the Devil’s Assistance
"With atmospheric and cleverly integrated live music from Neil Sutcliffe, Cowie’s storytelling is an entertaining thrill." David Pollock on With the Devil’s Assistance (Scottish Storytelling Centre (Venue 30) until 28 August). Photo: Contributed

14. The Sian Clarke Experience
"If you’re a stag do or on a night out with the lads, you should definitely go to this clever boundary-pushing piece of comedy theatre, in which you’ll get to see scary-sexy Sian half naked, wearing a blow-up penis and generally cavorting about, shouting about how wonderful she is – a well as a whole lot more." Sally Stott on The Sian Clarke Experience (Underbelly, Cowgate (Venue 61) until 28 August). Photo: Contributed

15. Black Sheep
"This arc plays out through eclectic forms, from vivid and compelling poetic memoir to rollerskating BLM protest. Alour’s burlesque and sword-swallowing talents are knowingly recontextualised while judicious costume changes trace the evolution of her sensibility." Ben Walters on Black Sheep (Assembly Rooms (Powder Room) (Venue 20) until 27 August). Photo: Contributed

16. Feeling Afraid as if Something Terrible is Going to Happen
"In a city which is currently full of stand-up comics, some of whom are working out their issues at the mic, this show is an intriguing proposition: a one-man play in which an actor (Samuel Barnett) plays a stand-up comic with enough issues to fill every inch of the Gilded Balloon." Susan Mansfield on Feeling Afraid as if Something Terrible is Going to Happen (Roundabout @ Summerhall (Venue 26) until 28 August). Photo: Contributed
