5. The Riverside Museum of Transport and Travel
Sitting on the banks of the Clyde, Glasgow's Zaha Hadid-designed Riverside Museum features more than 3,000 objects, from tram carriages to bikes. It's one of the newer museums on this list, having only opened in 2011 but has quickly become a must-visit. Freddiedoncaster wrote: "You’ve just simply got to visit to see the most outstanding displays that you’ll ever see. The curators were so knowledgeable and the layout was incredible. 6. Discovery Point
Just missing out on a place in the top 5 is Dundee's Discovery Point, featuring a tour around Scott's Antarctic research vessel RRS Discovery. 7. The Black Watch Castle & Museum
Perth's Black Watch Museum, dedicated to the history of the Highland Regiment and housed in the 12th century Balhousie Castle, is a hit with most visitors. 8. Camera Obscura & World of Illusions
Located on Edinburgh's Royal Mile the Camera Obscura & World of Illusions was last year the 5th most visited paid-for attraction in Scotland. Housed in an historic building, it offers visitors the chance to get hands-on with more than 100 interactive illusion exhibits. Dubya666 said: "This was simply superb! We have two young children, including a son with autism.
