International Women’s Day 2020: here are some of the inspirational events taking place across Scotland

International Women’s Day is an annual event that takes place on 8 March, which this year lands on a Sunday.

It is a global day which celebrates the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women - among many other things.

The International Women’s Day website explains that this year’s campaign theme surrounds the notion of 'Collective Individualism,’ promoting the hashtag #EachforEqual.

The website says, “Join us as an intersectional group of women take over the Festival Theatre for an afternoon of free food, music, performances and workshops, from badge making, t-shirt design and spoken word.2

The Take Over series is open to people of all ages to take part in different activities and themes, from International Women's Day celebrations to craft making. Each take over day is designed by a different artist, from experienced theatre makers to current participants of the year-round programme.
