Basketball: Final double for Scottish basketballers

Scotland are through to both finals in the Euro C Under-16 basketball championships in Andorra later today.

The cadet men beat San Marino 71-52, led by 18 points from Matthew Wilcox (Edinburgh Kings) and 14 from Jack Nicholson (Perth Phoenix) and will now face favourites Cyprus who have crushed all opposition so far.

The Scots cadette women, coached by Capital mentor Ian Gordon, were much too strong for Cyprus in their semi-final, winning 82-28, led by Polonia's Hilary Wood with 14, Gemma McCrea, 14 and Nicola Forde 13.

Polonia's Claire Paxton, daughter of former rugby star Iain Paxton, is leading the rebounds table with an average of 11.7 per game.
