Former Grand Slam finalists and Davis Cup winners Greg Rusedski, Henri Leconte, Pat Cash and Thomas Enqvist will take part in a doubles championship at the £750,000 Gleneagles Arena on 11 June.

Australian Cash is most famous for winning the Wimbledon men’s singles title in 1987, defeating Ivan Lendl in the final.

British tennis star Greg Rusedski, notorious for his booming serve, reached the US Open final in 1997, while Swede Thomas Enqvist was defeated in the Australian Open final in 1999. Frenchman Henri Leconte won the French Open doubles title in 1984 and reached the singles final in 1988, when he lost to Swede Mats Wilander.

Gleneagles Arena manager Sharon Burriss said: “We are really excited to be welcoming these legendary players.”

Launched by Judy Murray earlier this month, the arena is home to four indoor tennis courts and complements the venue’s five outdoor courts.

As part of a training opportunity, some 40 junior players from all over Scotland, and 50 coaches, were invited along to learn from the GB men’s and women’s team captains.

The new arena is open to hotel guests and the public.
