  • The blockbuster show is set to end with a supersized finale.

Stranger Things is set to conclude with a supersized finale, it has been confirmed. Netflix’s mega-hit kicked-off its fifth and final season last week.

The first volume saw four episodes land on the streaming service - with a slightly inconvenient release time for UK viewers. One of the episodes has become the show’s highest rated on IMDb!

Fans are facing a wait until Christmas and the New Year for the show’s last four episodes. But for those who don’t want it to be over, the ending is set for a mega-long runtime.

In a rare move, Netflix is set to release the last ever episode of its iconic blockbuster sci-fi series in cinemas - in the US and Canada at least. Unfortunately, viewers in the UK look set to miss out on the opportunity to see it on the big screen.

The cinema listing showed the runtime for the finale at over two and a half hours, however, that does include credits and previews. Netflix has since confirmed that the last ever episode will have a runtime of 2 hours 5 minutes - making it the second longest in the show’s history.

Stranger Things’ season four conclusion ‘The Piggyback’ remains the longest at two hours 22 minutes.

When does the Stranger Things season 5 finale release?

Netflix has split the last ever season of its mega-blockbuster series into three parts. The first four episodes came out last Thursday (November 27) in the UK - timed to coincide with the Thanksgiving break in America.

The second volume - with episodes five to seven - is due to arrive on Boxing Day in Britain, after releasing on Christmas Day in America. Stranger Things’ grand finale will then land on New Year’s Day for viewers in the UK and Europe.
