Still Game actor Jake D’Arcy’s funeral held

Friends, family and stars of the entertainment industry gathered yesterday to celebrate the life of Scottish actor Jake D’Arcy.

The popular performer, born John Sinclair, starred in classic television productions such as Still Game and Tutti Frutti. He also played football coach Phil Menzies in the 1981 comedy film Gregory’s Girl.

Mr D’Arcy died last week, aged 69. A ceremony marking his life was held before his cremation yesterday at Glasgow Crematorium. Those in attendance included Still Game stars Greg Hemphill, Ford Kiernan, top, and Gavin Mitchell, actor Tony Roper, impersonator Jonathan Watson and River City star Frank Gallagher. The service followed a condensed version at Co–op Funeral Care in Maryhill. Guests were welcomed to the ceremony by a piper.
