Smell of nostalgia as Oxo mum wafts back

ACTRESS Lynda Bellingham is to return as the Oxo mum after more than a decade.

The 61-year-old star, who appeared in more than 40 ads, was dropped in 1999 when her Oxo family campaign came to an end.

Now Bellingham – a contestant in last year's Strictly Come Dancing – will be seen in the role once more in an ad to be screened tonight.

Viewers followed her family's antics for 16 years as she appeared alongside Michael Redfern – and watched her on-screen children grow up.

She will appear in the Great Little Ideas campaign for Premier Foods, the maker of Oxo, which will first air during the Britain's Got Talent show on ITV1.

Bellingham said: "We have decided to get together again. I was very upset when it ended ten years ago.

"I am so associated with it and it has many fond memories and the time is right."

Also starring in the campaign are last year's Britain's Got Talent winners, the dance group Diversity, Coronation Street actress Liz Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth in the soap, Terry Venables and Kirsty Gallacher.
