Locals criticise Gordon Ramsay over house plans

Residents in one of the UK's most expensive villages have hit out at Gordon Ramsay's plans to build a house in the grounds of his holiday home.

The celebrity chef bought the detached property in the ­picturesque village of Rock, Cornwall last year.

Despite spending £4.4 million on the property, ­Ramsay wants to tear it down and replace it with a five-bedroom state-of-the-art home while also building a separate guest annexe at the ­bottom of the garden.

Planning chiefs at Cornwall Council had approved ­pre-application plans.

Now his team of architects have now submitted a full planning application – but three residents in the village, which is nicknamed Kensington-on-Sea, have objected to the proposed guest annexe.

Locals have described the proposals as “overdevelopment” and fear it could set a “dangerous precedent” in the area of outstanding ­natural beauty where the average house price has rocketed to £800,000.
