Darren Day's trial date set

ENTERTAINER Darren Day is due to go on trial a week today accused of drink-driving.

The 41-year-old was arrested in Edinburgh in the early hours of 18 December after his car allegedly collided with a lamppost in the city's Manor Place.

At a procedural hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, he maintained his not guilty pleas to all the charges against him, and the trial date was fixed.

Day is accused of driving without due care and attention, failing to stop, failing to report an accident, failing to co-operate with a preliminary breath test and possessing an offensive weapon.
