• Chris and Mary Gorman cut mansion price to £899,000 after struggling to sell

• Eight-bedroom property price slashed by more than £300,000 as couple pursue business interests down south

The Scots moved to England last year after putting the eight-bedroom property in Bridge of Weir up for sale at an initial asking price of £1.2 million.

According to Mr Gorman, the property was meant to be put on the market two years ago, but “events in Florida” delayed the process.

Mr Gorman’s wife was ordered to carry out 100 hours of community service in a US church and Christian bookshop after charges against her for assaulting a police officer and being in possession of cocaine were dropped.

She was accused of assaulting police officer Noah Pruitt in a nightclub bathroom in 2011 before being cleared.

The property, having initially been cut down in price to offers over £999,999, is now on the market for £899,999.

The four-storey mansion, called Ravenswood, features a swimming pool, sauna, gym, recording studio, cinema, cocktail bar and billiards room. The property is set within garden space measuring 1.4 acres.

Mr Gorman, who made his fortune from the Gadget Shop chain, said: “It became clear that our business interests would require us to move and we decided then to sell the house, which has been a wonderful family home.

“The sale was postponed due to events in Florida, but the house is now on the market.

“Although we will be living elsewhere, we will be back in Scotland frequently to visit family and friends.”

The couple, who married in 1992 and each have multiple business interests, are estimated to be worth £45 million.
