The Ye Amphibious Ancients Bathing Association has warned people not to wear the skimpy men’s swimwear - made famous by comedian Sasha Baron Cohen in the film Borat - because there will be children present.

Organiser and president Joyce Mcintosh said: “We’ve had a few complaints about them in the past so the committee took a decision not to allow them.

“We’re all for fun and frolics but we don’t think they’re appropriate when there are children there.”

The event, which sees hundreds take to the Tay on 1st January in Broughty Ferry, raises money to maintain life jackets, safety ropes, boat hire and other expenses.
