Under the Radar: The Cosmic Dead

Glasgow quartet The Cosmic Dead will be touring their new album around half of Europe this year, write Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon
Creators of hypnotic psych-rock, Glasgow’s The Cosmic Dead are sound engineers and producers Omar Aborida, Tommy Duffin, Luigi Pasquini (who own and operate the Dystopia and 16 Ohm recording studios) plus fiddler Calum Calderwood.
They’ve been championed by everyone from The Quietus to Vice, Drowned in Sound and The Skinny, and are signed to cool Italian record label and booking agency Heavy Psych Sounds.
Thanks to numerous tours throughout the US, UK and mainland Europe, they’ve shared stages with artists such as Shellac, Electric Wizard and Dead Meadow and performed at festivals including Psycho Las Vegas, Roadburn and Liverpool Psych Fest.
Their new album Beyond The Beyond is released on 17 April with the launch party at The Old Hairdressers in Glasgow on 2 May with support from Attack of the Stick Insects and The First Morning. They are then set to embark on an extensive European tour visiting Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Austria and Liechtenstein, see https://www.instagram.com/the_cosmic_dead/
