Under the Radar: philomenah

Shetland dark pop artist draws on psychology and the mythological figure Lilith to explore female autonomy, sexuality and freedom
Hailing from Shetland, dark-pop artist philomenah, aka Hannah Hastings, releases new single black moon lilith on 30 October following sovereign, the first single from her forthcoming debut album.
Written following an experience that damaged her trust in another person, the track draws on psychology and the mythological figure Lilith to explore female autonomy, sexuality and the freedom to define one's life outside societal expectations
Blending gothic electronica, alternative R&B and atmospheric guitar, it continues themes of independence and self-worth explored on sovereign. An accompanying video combines lo-fi VHS footage with imagery inspired by underground electronic music and horror.
philomenah has received BBC Radio 6 Music airplay from Gilles Peterson for her collaboration with East Coast Love Affair, alongside coverage from The Line of Best Fit, SNACK Magazine, The Luna Collective and featured on Spotify editorial playlists.
Live credentials include supporting Aidan Moffat and Bill Wells, VC Pines and George Clanton, with appearances at Sneaky Pete’s, The Hug and Pint and for The Skinny Magazine. Visit https://linktr.ee/philomenah
