Under the Radar: Jasmin Jet

The career of talented Falkirk songwriter Jasmin Jet is really taking off, write Olaf Furniss and Derick Mackinnon
Jasmin Jet has come a long way since first treading the boards in musical theatre at the age of eight, before going on to teach herself guitar to complement her piano playing. Hailing from Falkirk, she has developed as both a producer and quality songwriter.
She has now performed across a wide variety of venues, ranging from small acoustic shows to the Barrowland Ballroom, picking up support slots for of Sam Ryder and Brooke Combe along the way. She describes her sound as equal parts soulful, sassy and emotionally raw, drawing on influences which include pop, soul and funk, at different times evoking Amy Winehouse, Girls Aloud and even hints of Goldfrapp.
It has proved a winning combination and in 2025 she won the Greene King Untapped prize, collecting £10,000 as well as being featured in Rolling Stone. Jet is also nominated for the Sound Of Young Scotland gong at the Scottish Album of The Year Awards, which take place on 5 November, and the following night is one of four acts selected by an industry panel to play the Off The Record showcase at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh.
