Under the Radar: Apes of Genius

Apes Of Genius is the public persona of Edinburgh musician Olly Farrell, whose alter ego as a sync composer includes writing a theme tune for STV Weather and the music which accompanied the Commonwealth Games baton relay. Last year saw the release of his Olly Bible LP, a diverse collection of tracks which each evoke a different scene in the imagination of the listener. In fact, it might best be described as a soundtrack for a film yet to be made.

At the start of 2020 Farrell undertook to bring out a new single every month, but has also decided to release several songs which he describes as an extension to his album. These include That’s It Sun, which is a fund-raiser for mental health charity CALM. Arguably one of Scotland’s most original artists, he will be hosting an online listening session to talk through his songs. For details visit: https://theapesofgeni.us
