Theatre review: Scapegoat

A stranger comes calling at a farm in Texas with particular business on his mind in this downbeat drama about a barely buried family trauma.

Star rating: **

Venue: theSpace on the Mile (Venue 39)

Scapegoat sets out to tackle the emotional minefield of making amends, granting or withholding forgiveness and the question of whether evil is genetic but, despite a short running time of little over half an hour, it feels ponderous, while the slow, balletic movements of the two principals don’t add anything to the interpretation.
