Theatre review: Front Line

A one-woman semi-musical autobiographical show about defining love amid the ruins of failed relationships '“ what could go wrong?

Star rating: **

Venue: Just the Tonic at The Community Project (Venue 27)

Nothing much, actually – performer Elyssa Vulpes is a likeable performer, and her singing voice has a beautiful clarity to it. Aside from one emotional chapter recalling her experiences as a teen refugee from Croatia though, there’s not much here that isn’t available in spades elsewhere on the Fringe. Likeability will carry a show so far, but Front Line lacks that extra spark that would make it unmissable.
