Theatre review: Cold/Warm

A disturbed young man (Ieaun Perkins) rattles around his decrepit tower block flat, chattering to the microwave and relating grim stories from an unstable perspective.

This bleak and wearying hour from Florence Read (Blow, Twin Primes) no doubt has something useful to say about society’s treatment of the mentally ill, but the message is lost as both Read and Perkins pile on the despair. A touch of contrast or some sense of progression would not have gone amiss – as it is, we’re just smothered in wretchedness.

Until 29 August. Tomorrow, 12:45pm.
