The multi-platinum-selling 52-year-old artist, who until now has been more at home singing at her local karaoke night, is to embark upon a seven-date Scottish tour, which will culminate with two concerts at the Festival Theatre on July 12 and 13, however it is believed that a third date may be added to meet demand.

The singer is expected to treat audiences to a selection of contemporary songs and iconic album tracks, as well as never before heard renditions of classics, with tickets going on sale on Friday.

Announcing the tour, Susan said: “I’m really looking forward to getting on stage and singing with my own band for an entire show.

“This is the year that I felt that I would be able to give an audience what they want. I’ve always wanted to do my own show and now I feel confident enough to give it a go.

“If this works well, then the world is my oyster and 2014 will be a global tour.”

Songs featuring in the concerts will include her now legendary signature, I Dreamed A Dream, from Les Miserables, Wild Horses and Somewhere Over the Rainbow, as well as River Deep, Mountain High, one of her all-time favourites.

“I’ve chosen my favourite songs from past albums and also new songs that not only have I wanted to perform for years but resonate with me and I hope my fans will love,” she said.

“I wanted to begin in Scotland to say thank you for all the support I have been shown over the past few years. It feels right to begin another new experience in my home country.”

Known for her powerful voice, Susan has now sold more than 19 million albums, coming a long way since her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.

The singer last appeared on the Festival Theatre stage late last year when she made a number of guest appearances at the end of the sell-out stage musical, I Dreamed A Dream, which told her life story and charted her rise to fame.
