What school did you attend?

What sort of pupil were you? I was never particularly academic but attending boarding school pushes you to get involved... there’s no escape!

Were your school days the best days of your life? I look back and wish I’d realised how much fun I was actually having - as you can imagine, 70 or 80 lads living together day in day out was certainly not dull.

What was your first job? Cutting bubble gum off my parents’ shop carpet for pocket money. I was eight.

What has been your most unusual job? The time I spent with DeBeers grading rough diamonds - unusual and intense.

My biggest achievement so far has been... Achieving my Gemological Institute of America Diamond Grading Certificate.

Three words that sum up my personality are.... Sociable, sympathetic, reliable

Three places in Edinburgh I could not live without are... The New Town. The Old Town. Arthur’s Seat.

Who is your best friend? Tristan, who I’ve known since I was four.

If you could bring one show to Edinburgh what would it be? Something like The Only Way Is Essex... but based in Edinburgh.
