Other acts appearing at the venue throughout August include soul legend Van Morrison, psychedelic Welsh band Super Furry Animals and Scottish rockers Primal Scream – but those shows are now sold out, as is a date with Lloyd Cole & The Leopards and Justin Currie & The Pallbearers.

Idlewild, C Duncan, The Waterboys, Electric Honey Sessions, Eddi Reader and Will Young will also perform at the bandstand.

Mark Mackie, director of Regular Music, said earlier today, “The public response to this years Summer Nights at the Bandstand has been sensational, and now to be able to announce that the legendary Sir Tom Jones is joining the incredible line-up is just mind blowing. Sir Tom is one of the greatest stage performers that the world has ever seen and now we have the chance to see him up close in this historic amphitheatre on the banks of the River Kelvin.”
