Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie flown back to UK by air ambulance

The singer cracked a vertebrae and split his head open last week after falling seven-foot from a speaker stack while on stage at the Caribana festival in Crans-près-Céligny, Switzerland.

He shared a photo of himself online strapped into a bed on the plane and wearing a brace. It was accompanied by the message: “Feel Like Going Home.”

Doctors have ordered complete rest for the Scots star who was unable to travel by a scheduled airline due to his injuries.

Fans were quick to offer their support to the 53-year-old Glaswegian singer on Primal Scream’s Facebook page after viewing the picture.

Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie injured in stage fall

Having been forced to cancel the show after 40 minutes following the Swiss concert – which led to the singer being stretchered from the festival site – Primal Scream are expected to announce the cancellation of a number of live concert appearances in June as he recovers.

The band had been due to play shows in Spain, Ireland and France in the coming weeks.

The band’s shows at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Bandstand on August 11 and Electric Fields at Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries & Galloway, taking place, on August 26 and 27, are likely to be unaffected.

Gillespie has been ordered to remain flat on his back while he recovers from the fall. His injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

A message on Primal Scream’s Twitter page said: “Thanks everyone who has asked about Bobby, we’re waiting for more news but hoping to be back on the road as soon as we get the all clear.”
