The Dumfries-born actor has joined forces with Outlander co-star Graham McTavish on "Men in Kilts" for Starz, the company which makes the time travel fantasy series.

Speaking on the US TV show Good Morning America told how he wishes he could make the new travel show "every day.”

Culloden and Glencoe are among the historic sites visited by Heughan and McTavish for the programme, which Starz has just released the first trailer for.

Billed as “two blokes on the adventure of a lifetime,” it sees them riding bikes, rowing a boat and driving a camper van through unspoiled landscapes.

Heughan said: "I think we both knew a lot about Scottish culture. But we wanted to know more.

“We learned things that we didn't know before. I wish we could do it every day. It was so much fun.”
