Northern lights appear over Kilmarnock

THEY are a natural wonder that people travel thousands of miles to catch a glimpse of.

Normally best viewed from Iceland, northern Scandinavia and occasionally the far north of Scotland they are notoriously difficult to pin down.

Imagine then the joy of David Barz who captured the lights at their best above the Craufurdland Loch which lies north of Kimarnock on Monday evening.
