Normal People stars to give Edinburgh TV Festival masterclass

The stars of the hit romantic drama Normal People are to get top billing at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival.

Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal have won huge acclaimed for their performances in the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel.

The story of the evolving relationship between two school friends as they navigate their way though university life has been one of the biggest TV hits during lockdown.

The pair will be in conversation with Oscar-winning director Lenny Abrahamson and executive producer Ed Guiney during the TV’s first online-only event in August.

Artist Grayson Perry, who scored a lockdown ratings hit with his “Art Club” programme on Channel 4, will be hosting an exclusive interactive session for the festival.

Other highlights of the festival, which revealed first details of its special events today, include a session on Sitting in Limbo, a new BBC drama on the Windrush scandal, in which writer Stephen S Thompson will discuss how it was based on his brother Anthony’s own experiences.
