Nomination set to fix up The Cure in Hall of Fame

ALT ROCK legends The Cure have been nominated to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The band, which took the name in 1976 and are led by Robert Smith, have been shortlisted for the honour next year alongside Scots singer Donovan, the Beastie Boys and Donna Summer.

Rod Stewart’s former band the Faces are also nominated as are their previous incarnation the Small Faces, which was led by singer Steve Marriott.

Stewart is already a member of the Hall of Fame as a solo artist, while Wood was inducted as part of the Rolling Stones.

They are among 15 nominees which include veteran blues man Freddie King and Guns N’ Roses. Between five and seven nominees are likely to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony in its Cleveland, Ohio, home on 1 April.
