Around 60 veterans laid wreaths, poppies and wooden crosses and were joined at the event by members of the public who paid their respects.

Lord Provost Donald Wilson and culture secretary Fiona Hyslop also attended the poignant ceremony in the shadow of the Scott Monument.

The Scottish National Remembrance Sunday memorial event will be held at the Stone of Remembrance outside the City Chambers on the Royal Mile on November 13 at 11am.
