Rock star Meat Loaf has collapsed on stage during a concert in Canada.

He was taken to hospital after the incident in Edmonton, Alberta, but his condition was not known, the Canadian Press reported.

The 68-year-old singer had cancelled two other concerts in recent days - in Regina on Saturday and in Calgary on Tuesday - citing ill-health.

One video of his performance at Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium showed him bending over, dropping his microphone and falling to the floor. Musicians walked over to help and the music eventually stopped.

Concertgoer Mikey McBryan, 33, said the audience was asked to vacate the arena.

Meat Loaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, is best known for his 1977 album Bat Out Of Hell.
