McCartney to tie knot at register office where he wed first wife Linda

SIR Paul McCartney will wed wealthy heiress Nancy Shevell today, according to reports.

The former Beatle is expected to tie the knot at London’s Westminster Register Office, where he also married his first wife Linda.

The couple are thought to have invited just 30 guests to what will be the singer’s third wedding. The reception will be held in his back garden afterwards. Sir Paul, 69, became engaged to Shevell earlier this year. The couple have been dating for four years after meeting in Long Island, New York.

It is thought that Sir Paul’s brother, Mike, will be the best man and his seven-year-old daughter, Beatrice, will be a flower girl.

The millionaire musician lost his first wife in 1998 when she died of cancer.

He went on to marry former model Heather Mills, a union that ended with an acrimonious courtroom battle when they divorced in 2008. Their wedding was a lavish affair conducted on an estate in Ireland.

Shevell, 51, who sits on the board of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, is said to get on well with her fiance’s children. She is understood to be wearing a wedding dress designed by Sir Paul’s daughter, Stella McCartney.

Previously married for more than 20 years to lawyer Bruce Blakeman, she is also an executive at a New Jersey-based trucking company owned by her father.

Her cousin, the veteran American television interviewer, Barbara Walters, flew into London on Friday for the event.

A spokesman for McCartney said he could not comment on the date of the wedding.
