Loch Ness Monster hunter Steve Feltham honoured for his work

A man who left his job 25 years ago in order to search for the Loch Ness Monster has been honoured for his work.

Steve Feltham quit his job as a security camera installer, left his girlfriend and sold his house in Dorset to concentrate on solving Scotland’s most famous mystery.

He has now been named Ambassador of the Year at the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards.

Mr Feltham, who relocated to Dores on the south shore of the loch, gave himself three years to unravel the legend of Nessie but this year marked the 25th anniversary of his efforts.

He said: “Winning this award makes me realise that what I’ve been doing for two and a half decades doesn’t just make my heart sing, it has a knock-on effect for the tourism industry in the Highlands of Scotland.”

Mr Feltham, who funds his searches through selling handcrafted Nessie models, has previously been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Record for the longest continuous vigil hunting for the Loch Ness Monster.
