Local Buzz: The Dark Jokes

The Dark Jokes are an outfit from the Capital who have been getting plenty of praise recently for their intelligent, brooding, indie sounds.

The band formed in April 2010 and since then have played a string of successful gigs and festivals around the UK and Ireland.

Driven by the well-crafted songs of lead singer Aaron Dennington, The Dark Jokes tackle a wide range of social topics, underpinned by a tight rhythm section of trigger-happy drums and rolling bass lines, melancholic arrangements of effect-layered guitar and piano, cello, trumpet and three-part harmonies.

Support on the night comes from local rock outfit The Litigators, another young band worthy of your attention.
