Scottish sensation Lewis Capaldi has announced that his 2021 shows will no longer be going forward, instead offering rescheduled performance dates next year.

Taking to social media, Capaldi explained that his current priorities lie with working on his newest album, and that Covid-19 restrictions have made it difficult for him to move forward with making new music.

Posting screenshots of the iPhone notes app to Twitter, Capaldi explained the current situation regarding his new music, the pandemic and his forthcoming shows.

He wrote that he’s been “writing loads of tunes” that he’s excited about, and that he wants to make sure whatever he puts out next is “the absolute best it can be”.

“Despite having all this extra time to write, all the Covid restrictions have made it harder to go and record the stuff I’ve been working on or even be around all the people I loved working with on the first album,” Capaldi wrote.

He continued: “For that reason, it’s with an extremely heavy heart that I’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule this year’s shows and put all my effort into making the best album I can for you.”

The Scottish singer and songwriter explained that getting his newest album right has to be his “number one priority at the moment”.

He finished the note by writing: “I’m really sorry I won’t be out there with you this year, but I’ll be back in 2022 with new music and a s**t load of shows in as many places as I can possibly get to across the world.

“Thanks again for all your support. Love ye!”

What to do if I have tickets for a rescheduled date?

Official ticket site Ticketmaster states that “original tickets remain valid for rescheduled shows”, so hang on to your tickets if you plan on attending a rescheduled show in 2022.

However, if you would rather get your money back for your tickets, Ticketmaster says that refunds are determined on an “event-by-event basis by the event organiser”.

If the event organiser approves refunds, Ticketmaster will send you a notification outlining your options and how to submit a request for a refund.
