Interview: Amber Topaz, burlesque performer

What’s the last piece of clothing you bought? A Forties-style leopard print cardigan.

Best ever bargain? A fabulous fishtail cocktail dress that I got in a shop called Beyond Retro for £30.

Who has great style? Betsy Rose – a fellow burlesque artist, who dresses from head to toe in vintage glamour.

Name your favourite high street shop. I don’t often shop on the high street but I did buy a Forties-inspired playsuit from H&M.

What are you addicted to buying? Leopard print and sparkles.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about? Another beautiful dress from Beyond Retro which was too big. I took it in a little too much and had to take it out again and hide the evidence of the nips and tucks with a bow at the rear.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe? It’s a toss up between a Thirties green lace evening gown or a Twenties silk velvet opera coat. Timeless glamour.

Amber Topaz is appearing in An Evening of Burlesque at the Music Hall Aberdeen on 13 Oct; Perth Concert Hall on 14 Oct; Glasgow Pavilion on 15 Oct and Rothes Hall, Glenrothes on 16 Oct, tickets and times vary.
