Oh, cover me -

she sighs as she rolls over

all skin

milky, hot, bed-scented

She turns and tugs and settles

like an oak stirring in a gale

The sheet billows, sinking, swaddling

– a swell of second skin

With caution it lands

and puckers

Like a cleft of warm flesh

or the fold of a page of a book

or the withering of a leaf

Or the crease of the skin of her arm

when we’re older.
