Historic Scotland photo competition entries

THEY are some of the most photographed buildings in Scotland but as the submitted entries to this year’s Historic Scotland photography competition prove so far, the right angle, technique and vision can present these famous landmarks in a whole new light.

With entries not closing until September 30, there is still time to enter this year’s contest where you could win £500 worth of photography vouchers, one year of Historic Scotland Membership and a unique experience on location with a Scotsman photographer.

This week’s featured entries are:

Auchindoun Castle by Andrew Davies

Linlithgow Palace by David McKellar

Kelso Abbey by Geoffrey Alexander

Caerlaverock Castle by Chris Brown

Kilchurn Castle by Marc Curran

Aberdour Castle and Gardens by William Blair

Kilmartin Sculptured Stones by Catriona Ramsay

Edinburgh Castle by Stan Obert

Calanais Standing Stones by Paul Cook

Melrose Abbey by Sarah Lean

How to enter:

Entrants should visit www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/photocomp where they will register. After registration they will be asked to upload their photo, inserting a location and title. They will also be asked to opt in or opt out of Historic Scotland communications. In October photos will be submitted to a judging panel and the winning photos will be chosen.

Pictures can be of places, monuments, objects, people, actors, staff or anything associated with their sites.
