Glasvegas join line-up for award-winning RockNess festival

SCOTTISH indie band Glasvegas were among a number of additions to the line-up of the RockNess festival announced last night.

The Glasgow group, who this year make a return with their second album, will appear alongside previously announced headliners Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers and Paolo Nutini.

The latest line-up announcement coincides with the news that RockNess, which attracts 40,000 fans to the banks of Loch Ness, won the 'Best Small Festival' prize at the NME Awards.

Festival director Jim King thanked the "loyal" audience that has attended the festival since it began in 2006.

He said: "It's a huge award for us to win. To be recognised in the category is an honour in itself when you consider the other amazing festivals nominated."

Among the other acts confirmed for the festival, which aims to appeal to fans of both electronic and rock music, included star producer Mark Ronson, dance act Groove Armada, US turntable wizard DJ Shadow and Scottish indie favourites Frightened Rabbit.

Mr King added that there are "many more acts still to be announced".

The 2011 event takes place in the village of Dores, near Inverness, from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th June.

• Biffy Clyro were the other Scottish winners at last night's NME Awards, winning Best Live Band.
