Game of the week: Inversion

Alien invasions are the basis for some of the best third-person shooters on the market, Gears of War and Resistance for example. Unfortunately, Inversion feels like a cheap knock-off.

Inversion

Namco, PC/PS3/Xbox 360, £22.99 to £29.99

Cop Davis Russel and his partner Leo Delgado are ready to fight the bizarrely named Lutedore, while attempting to track down Davis’s daughter amongst the chaos. It’s pretty cheesy but the plot serves its purpose, giving you just enough motivation to jump from skirmish to skirmish. The USP is that you commandeer some alien tech that can lower or increase gravity. However, this gimmick feels tacked on and is rarely integral to the gameplay. Why float an alien into the air when just shooting them is faster?
