Your pick of the Festivals nights out...

COMEDY: STEWART LEE: CARPET REMNANT WORLD

What can a middle-aged married man, whose life now consists mainly of watching Scooby Doo cartoons with a four-year-old boy, possibly find to write comedy about? Stewart Lee now gawps blankly at News 24 as Britain burns down around him and blinks weirdly at the vast wayside retail outlets during endless journeys to and from increasingly indistinct provincial theatres.

It’s 1948. Mrs F Scott Fitzgerald waits in the doctor’s office for her next appointment. As a writer, dancer and painter and F Scott’s muse, Zelda struggles through the veil of schizophrenia to rebuild her life so that she may return to her beloved husband and their daughter. Overshadowed by Scott’s fame, Zelda finds herself in and out of sanatoriums for 17 years, all the while continuing to write and paint.

Greenside, 8.30pm, £10 (£7.50), 0131-226 0000

KIDS: CIRCUS IN HAND

A cute show in which doll trainers and animals, acrobats, jugglers and clowns appear from the bright patches of a circus tent.
