Music review: Andreas Scholl/Tamar Halperin

Three Canzonettas by Haydn, set to words by London writer Anne Hunter, set the mood of countertenor Andreas Scholl’s recital with pianist Tamar Halperin at the Queen’s hall yesterday. Although his English pronunciation wasn’t spot-on in this first set, the gentle tenderness of Scholl’s approach to his subject matter was one which weaved its way through the all-German backbone of his programme.

Dance review: Don Quichotte Du Trocadero

The adage about Scottish weather could easily be applied to José Montalvo’s latest show. Because if you don’t like the dance style being performed on stage –wait five minutes and it will change. Between them, the eleven dancers in Don Quichotte du Trocadéro are proficient in classical ballet, flamenco, contemporary, tap dance, African and several shades of hip hop.
