D-Day veterans honoured in Edinburgh royal portrait display

Portraits of D-Day veterans commissioned by the Duke of Rothesay go on show at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh from today until 28 March.

The Last of the Tide exhibition pays tribute to 12 men who took part in the landings in 1944. Scots include Dr Tom Renouf, pictured, of the 5th Battalion Black Watch.

The soldiers all served in regiments with which the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay have a formal association.

Prince Charles said: “This wonderful collection of paintings captures the spirit, resolve, warmth and humanity of these remarkable men.”
