Country legend Kenny Rogers books Glasgow date for final world tour

US country music legend Kenny Rogers will stop off in Glasgow as part of his last ever world tour.

The Grammy Award-winning star’s tour, The Gambler’s Last Deal, will celebrate a six-decade career that produced 24 number one hits, including The Gambler, Coward of the County and Lady.

Rogers will perform at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on 31 October.

Announcing his retirement in a video statement released in September last year, Rogers said: “Not many people get to see the end of the rainbow.

And I think I have. I think I’ve had the beauty of this career, the beauty of getting to know you guys daily, out on the road, and watching kids grow up with me.”

“As hard as it is to leave, I will tell you this, younger and earlier in my career and in my book I wrote: ‘There’s a fine line between being selfish and being driven.’ And I think I crossed that line a lot when I was younger, and I didn’t get a chance to spend a lot of time with my older boys. I regret that now.”
