Scotland’s rich heritage of musical talent has produced prodigies such as Nicola Benedetti, the acclaimed violinist who led the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland children’s orchestra in 1997, and is now one of its patrons.

About the concerts

Expect passion, talent and breath-taking solo performances, backed by a full symphony orchestra, when emerging young classical talent from across Scotland perform with internationally celebrated soloists and conductors.

At the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, the NYOS Symphony Orchestra will take to the stage on Friday 14 April. Scottish guitar virtuoso Sean Shibe will perform Lotta Wennäkoski’s guitar concerto Susurrus with the orchestra.

Conducted by Catherine Larsen-Maguire, the orchestra will also perform Mahler’s rarely programmed Symphony No. 7, a boundary-pushing early 20th Century masterpiece.

On April 6 NYOS Development Orchestra perform Grieg’s much-loved Piano Concerto in A Minor with the exceptional young Scottish pianist Ethan Loch, BBC Young Musician 2022 finalist.
