Comedy review: Pippa Evans: Joy Provision!

Edinburgh Festival Fringe: Pippa Evans says her mission is to spread happiness and joy but she mostly comes across as frantic and a little bit angry.

Pleasance Courtyard (Venue 33)

**

Her special talent is improvised musical numbers and she is good at getting the audience to cheer and clap along.

But she is no stand-up and her forced cheerfulness does not work well with the spoken word. Her material is badly judged and she seems to want to overpower the audience rather than to charm.

Although the audience laughed along, her impression of a drunk Amy Winehouse was particularly crass, insensitive, tasteless and cruel.

Until 27 August. Today 2:40pm.
