Comedy review: Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis

You should get your tickets for this now, if last night's packed crowd is anything to go by.

Star rating: ***

Venue: Assembly George Square Theatre (Venue 8)

Billed as a mash-up of hypnotism and improv, and starring Asad Mecci and Colin Mochrie. It boils down to a regular (but very good) hypnotism show with a clever, funny bloke doing the suggestions for what the subjects should get up to and interacting with them, rather than the hypnotist. Chairs on the stage are quickly filled by audience wannabes. Asad whittles them down to the four he feels are the best subjects. He has an amazing voice. Sometimes it’s so low in pitch I am convinced there are parts enjoyable only by sperm whales.

There are the usual “you have lost your tummy button” bits and some slightly more evolved stuff with Colin. Great fun.
